Hi. I’m Pauline and I’m addicted to pressure cooking. Yes, the addiction is real.
I’m not here asking for forgiveness. I’m not looking for a step program to lead me away from the lure of the pot. If loving pressure cooking is wrong, I don’t want to be right. What’s more, I want you to come with me on this journey deeper into addiction.
Exactly who am I? Who is the pressure cooking addict? Do you think you could spot one?
Look around. We’re everywhere. We’re your mother, your sister, your aunt. Your grandmother! Don’t think you can detect a pressure cooking addict by gender, or profession. We’re your dad, your brother, your husband. We’re from all walks of life. Your teacher! Your preacher! Your mechanic! Pressure cooking has us hooked. And we love it.
But how did this start? How is it that anyone and everyone you see could be a pressure cooking addict? For me, it started innocently enough. I watch a popular home shopping channel that routinely features cooking programs. Pressure cookers are often offered for sale at attractive prices. The more I watched, the more interested I became. Before I knew it, I had me a sleek, shiny red number.
I wasn’t afraid of this contraption. I didn’t hesitate. I was ready to cook. Pot roast was the gateway recipe that started it all. No lie. Pot roast. It was so freakin’ good. From the first taste, I was hooked. I knew I had to have more. And I knew that pressure cooking was the way to score more. In no time, a mild interest became a need that I couldn’t shake. That was it. My pressure cooking addiction was born.
The question is, are you a pressure cooking addict too? Do you have the seeds of this addiction to the pot in you? There are signs. Come along on this magic carpet ride with me and find out. The saga continues.
